Job Functions

  • Serves as the first line of contact for medical billing clients and patients
  • Assist and resolve patient or client inquiries/requests within 48 hours of the request
  • Answers all incoming calls from patients and makes payment arrangements
  • Review and work necessary reports daily associated with AR (denials, rejections for demographic or authorization issues)
  • Evaluate and monitor private pay patient balances; set up and monitor patient payment plans
  • Check monthly eligibility through Medicaid for uninsured and or private pay patients
  • Provide feedback to Billing Management and Revenue Cycle Manager on any demographic or authorization issues affecting reimbursement and assist with developing potential solutions
  • Patient correspondence
  • Attend monthly client calls and offer feedback
  • Support senior leadership decisions and processes providing constructive feedback
  • Models and reinforces leadership/ethical behavior in self and in others


  • A minimum of two years previous work experience as a customer service representative in medical billing
  • A full understanding of revenue cycle process, customer service, insurance follow-up processes (i.e. billing, collections, denials and appeal process, managed Care, Medicare, Medicaid and commercial payers)
  • Knowledge of EOBs, CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes, CMS-1500, and authorizations/referrals
  • Stay abreast of relevant policies related to billing and reimbursement
  • Computer skills with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Able to work with minimum supervision in a fast paced environment
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills
  • Basic project management skills
  • Detail oriented, well organized, and high degree of accuracy
  • Excellent professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Well developed interpersonal skills (outstanding listening skills, positive attitude, flexible, team player)
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a calm manner 
  • Ability to work overtime as needed 


  • High school diploma or equivalent with at least two years college or equivalent preferred
